Since 1963

A church that still feels like home.

Bear Lake United Methodist Church was established in 1963. We are a fellowship of believers — made in God’s image, called as disciples of Christ — learning, listening, praying, and working together for this neighborhood.

One year in
Our church

Sixty years on the same road.

We believe in the Wesleyan tradition of evangelism, spiritual transformation, and bringing faith to life in service — here in Apopka and farther than we can see.

This is a smaller congregation than it once was. We are honest about that. We are also still here: worshiping, feeding neighbors when we can, and asking what this church should be next. If you have been looking for a church that has room — actual room — you will not have to wait in line.

Mission

Share the love of Jesus. Make it practical.

Our mission is to share the excitement of our love of Jesus Christ throughout the community by nurturing adults, youth, and children, helping them understand God’s love and God’s grace.

Go

In service

Faith that stays inside the building is unfinished. We look for the next useful thing we can do for this community.

Grow

In discipleship

Scripture, prayer, and the long work of becoming people who look a little more like Jesus on a weekday.

Gather

In celebration

Sunday is still Sunday. We sing, we pray, we eat when we can, and we remember that joy is part of the work.

The next chapter

We’re still writing it. Come help.

Worship, programming, and how we serve Apopka are all in a season of discernment. That is not a closed meeting. If you are younger than the average pew, Caribbean, new in town, or simply tired of churches that only talk to themselves — there is a chair.

People

The ones who keep the lights on.

Sunday is led by Pastor Eric Twaalhoven, with supervising pastor Jonathan. Around them is a small, stubbornly faithful church family.
